The Accessibility Academy will offer two days of discussions, training sessions and exchange of ideas. It will take place in Bucharest on 3–4 September 2026.
Access Constellation is a project funded through an EUNIC cluster. EUNIC is the European network of national cultural institutes.
Access Constellation brings together cultural institutions, artists, accessibility experts and local communities from Romania.
Who will attend the Academy?
Experts from several countries will attend. Each expert is invited by one of the nine cultural institutes that are part of Access Constellation.
This means that participants will bring ideas and experiences from their own countries, not only from Romania.
Who can register?
The Academy is open to three groups of people:
- people who work in cultural institutes;
- people who work in other cultural organisations, both public and independent;
- disabled people who work in the cultural sector or who want to learn more about this field and meet other professionals.
Everyone will participate together as equal partners.
Why does this matter?
Accessibility looks different in every country. There is no single “correct recipe”.
By bringing together experts and professionals from different places, the Academy will allow people to compare ideas, learn from one another and build meaningful connections. They will not be expected to follow only one fixed set of rules.
What will happen during the two days of the Academy?
There will be discussions and workshops about:
- ideas and practices from European accessibility networks;
- training and career paths for disabled artists;
- theatre for Deaf people;
- making buildings and spaces accessible;
- making films and video materials accessible to everyone.
Accessibility at the event
Below is a list of the accessibility measures that will be available. This list will be updated as we receive further confirmation.
Everyone who registers will also receive this information by email.
- Wheelchair-accessible building
- Accessible toilet
- Quiet room
- Sensory and anti-stress toys, also known as fidget toys
- Information available in Easy Read and plain language
- Romanian Sign Language interpretation

What happens after the Academy?
After the Academy, smaller groups will meet again for the Accessibility Incubators. These will offer a full week of practical work and learning together.
The Academy itself will already achieve something important. It will bring together people from cultural institutes, independent organisations and disabled communities, both from Romania and other countries.
These people rarely have the opportunity to learn directly from one another.
