My Voice, My Stage: An Actor-Specific Theatre Lab with Jitka Vrbková
Who is it for: young people with Down Syndrome or other learning disabilities (aged 16+).
When: 5, 6, and 7 September (10:00 – 15:00). *Lunch break from 12:00 to 13:00.
The Czech Centre and Supereroi printre noi invites you to join a workshop on theatre and movement led by Jitka Vrbková, founder and artistic director of Aldente Theatre.
Jitka’s practice is based on the belief that every person has unexpected abilities that can inspire others. This workshop is an opportunity to discover your own voice and share your view of the world with others.
- You can move, speak and be as you are.
- No previous experience is required. You can take part regardless of the level of support you usually need.
- Here you can be completely yourself. No pressure or obligations.
- To allow for as much freedom and independence as possible, the support persons will not enter the room during the working sessions. We will have volunteers if you need help.
- Jitka has a lot of experience. She worked a lot with actors and authors with Down syndrome.
- She will guide and support you during the workshop.
- You will be in a safe and welcoming environment

Find Joy in Art: A Creative Incubator with Kelly Ardens (IT)
Who is it for: neurodivergent and/or learning disabled young people (aged 16+).
When: 7–11 September (13:30 – 17:30, with breaks). [*Note: September 10 is a free day.]
Where: Cervantes Institute, Bucharest (open to participants from all over the country).
Language: English, with Romanian translation provided.
Cost: Free.
Have you ever been curious about the performing arts? Would you like to explore the emotions that lie behind being an artist and creating art? Do you want to explore new ways to share your story with the world?
The Italian Cultural Institute of Bucharest and Supereroi printre noi are inviting you to join a creative workshop led by Kelly Ardens. A professional opportunity for young neurodivergent and disabled people to discover the world of the stage in a supportive setting.
Together with Kelly, you will explore neurodivergent and disabled joy through art, whatever your chosen medium is in artistic exploration.
With Kelly, you’ll explore your art through your own personal journey and expression. We’ll tackle themes such as what it means to be, or to feel like, an artist; the emotions associated with this (focusing on joy); living and sharing within a community and what that might mean; and occupying space and time – all from the perspective of neurodivergent and disabled artists and creators, celebrating each person’s diversity and unique qualities.
You do not need any previous experience, and you do not need to be verbal or know how to write to take part in this workshop.
Kelly will guide you through the joyful process of sharing your story in whatever way feels right to you. This is a space to experiment, play, and be yourself.
